Daeun is the ten-year cycle a chart moves through. When the first one begins is set by the distance to the nearest solar term; whether it runs forward or backward depends on the yin-yang of the birth year and on sex.
Eighty years are drawn on a single line. Each stretch is coloured by the element of its heavenly stem, so runs of wood and fire stand apart from runs of metal and water. Height marks whether that cycle feeds the day master or draws on it.
A stretch that dips is not a bad decade. It is where you spend what you have, and those are often the years people look back on as the ones that built something. The chart says so on its face, so the line cannot be misread as a life going down.
